the externalities of being a Gokhaleite...
1) The Mess makes sure that you have a digestive system of a goat, by the time you complete one semester...anything ranging from polythene to phenyl is then digestible exactly after one semster
2) It is also exactly after one sesmter that you will find your skin resembling that of a croc...to put it plainly...you develop a thick skin...reactions are reduced to shrugs everytime someone opens his/her mouth to speak...
3) Academicians here justify the presence of the word 'politics' in the name of the institute Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics by indulging in politics of the petty kind...students follow suit at the hostel...

Well, tell me one place that doesn't have politics! I so remember Nalini Rajan writing me off in the interview when I said, politics interests me only at one level, and I may not particularly want to cover it - at least in the party politics sense! In other news, we had this huge discussion today in our vainglorious paper about ignoring all the important macro stories and giving space to the gimmicks of the Ambani bros on Pg1! It sort of gladdened me to an extent that atleast they think, even if its in the post-mortem form :)
hehehe
you are funny.
and naive.
of course there's more to life than dirty politics...even if it means the end of a legacy that has pre independence roots...even if it means that an institute that pioneered research in the country will now become a stooge in the hands of so called card holding marxists who are no different from power hungry politicians...
of course there's more to life...after all in about a year and a half i will be out of this place with a degree...maybe i will even get good recos...coz i dared to shut up and bear it all...and perhaps that's all there is to life...coz then life's just so much easier...we don't want to stand up and be counted...
my protest against running this place like it's someone's personal property with zilch accountability will probably be limited to the confines of the virtual world...only coz there's so much more to life...
imran...don't get me wrong..but that blog was just a precursor...if you came around at this time to this place...you would know why exactly we are losing out on the best faculties and the best of facilities...all for the sake of mainataining an old rhetoric, " we can't trade our independence for money!"
i don't think scholarship needs to be subservient to funding...but for once i have seen scholarship being subservient to ideology...
schazeb...at least for once your opinion matches with that of my batchmates...that's exactly what they think of me...funny and naive...wants to change the system...will fall flat on her face...
